Choosing The Best Online Guitar Course

Taking an online guitar course is convenient, inexpensive and allows you to learn as quickly or slowly as you’d like. The only challenge arises from which online guitar course do you use?

There are a lot of choices for guitar lessons online. Everything from inexpensive ebooks to monthly online membership websites. Let’s take a look at some of the most popular courses.

JamPlay.com

In my opinion the best online guitar course is JamPlay.com. They have over 40 different instructors, hundreds of hours of lessons and they have something for every skill level.

Starting with their phase 1 beginner lessons you can learn the fundamentals of playing guitar on either an acoustic or electric guitar. Heck, they even offer a series of online guitar lessons for kids.

Next their phase 2 lessons cover genera specific topics and styles such as blues, metal, country and even rock guitar lessons online as well as speed playing and soloing techniques.

Finally their phase 3 lessons are specific song lessons. Here you can learn to play some of the greatest hits of all time and of course a few lesser known songs.

Every video is shot using high definition equipment and takes advantage of multiple camera angles when the instructor is demonstrating something important. This way you’re sure never to miss a thing.

The cost is only $19.95 a month (see our Jamplay coupons available to save a few bucks), about the same as one private lessons, and you are given unlimited access to their entire lesson catalog 24 hours a day 7 days week. There’s a fantastic intro video you can watch on their official website. Click here to view the video now.

Guitar Tricks

Like JamPlay, Guitar Tricks is a monthly membership service that provides you unlimited access to their massive catalog of over 3000 guitar lessons spanning all skill levels.

If you’re a beginner then the best place to start with with their Fundamentals online guitar course. This will teach you everything you need to know from chords and scales to theory and strumming techniques. Once you’ve mastered this area of their course you can move on to more intermediate lessons in blues, rock and even country.

All videos are recorded in high definition quality and you’re given guitar tab and sheet music to go along with all demonstrations played during a lesson.

Learning with Guitar Tricks is pretty easy. You just need to put in the time to watch the videos and practice. Everything you need to learn is laid out in an easy to follow lesson plan inside their membership area.

Jamorama

jamorama boxUnlike Guitar Tricks and JamPlay Jamorama is an Ebook online guitar course that includes video and audio snippets to help strengthen key techniques and skills.

The benefit of an online guitar course like Jamorama is that you only pay one time. There is no on going monthly membership fee. The draw back is that the instruction isn’t as easy to follow as the video lessons provided by the other two courses we discussed above.

The ebook included with Jamorama guides you through the basic concepts you need to know on the guitar. When required you’ll be asked to watch a particular lesson video or listen to an audio clip to help strengthen your understanding on a particular topic.

While these guitar lessons online are less expensive they are not as effective as the full blow video courses like JamPlay. Also there is minimal intermediate guitar content you can learn once you’re done with the beginner stuff.
