How to Choose the Best Learn Guitar DVD
If you want to learn to play guitar from home there is no better tool to teach you then a learn guitar dvd. You can watch your lessons just like the instructor was in the room with you, and pending you buy the right home study program you’ll have all the materials you need to become a great guitar player.
This article outlines what to look for when buying a learning guitar dvd, and gives my recommendation for the best program of it’s kind on the Internet (I own and use the course I recommend)
Multiple Discs
I cannot see how a beginner guitar player can become an intermediate intermediate player based on the information found on only one dvd. For me the learn to play guitar dvd set I used was 10 discs, and that same kit is now 20.
With a multiple dvd set you’re going to get more lesson content, and more lessons means more learning. It becomes an ongoing course that you can grow with. This is especially important if you’re a beginner. Buying a one off learn guitar dvd that will teach you chords is great, but once you’re done that one you’ll have to find another dvd to teach you scales and music theory and so on. It’s far easier to learn from the same instructor and the same course from beginning to end rather then having to find a new disc and possibly instructor every month or two.
Practice Tools and Materials
It’s an obvious one that there must be good lesson content, but the lessons are only half the learning process. w other half is the practicing and understanding the materials. A good learn guitar dvd should include practice material, an online forum or after sales support to ask questions, and while not a must, Jam-a-long cds. The cd’s make practicing a lot funner then just playing the same thing over and over again.
Good Instructor
I just want to touch on this briefly, but it’s important that the video instructor is good. You need to be able to understand what their teaching you in order for you to learn it. If you don’t think the teacher in the video is that much more experienced then you, or worse you can’t understand what their doing or saying then your learning guitar dvd will be a waste of money.
Video quality
This probably goes without saying, but if the videos are poor quality then the learning isn’t going to be enjoyable. If you can get a sample of the video quality before buying do so. It can save you a lot of time. Good quality learn guitar videos are easier to learn from.
