Guitar Lesson
dvd reviews – Find the best lessons available on
DVD
There are a lot of guitar lesson dvds
available today. From your local music store to all over
the Internet, the quality of the video and the lessons
varies greatly. Although then again so does the price.
I've put together a guitar lesson dvd review of the home
study course I feel is the best available:
Learn and Master Guitar
Who is this Guitar Lesson DVD best for?
If you're a beginner either, complete newbie (as in don't
know the names of the strings and can't make an E chord), or
someone who's been fooling around with the guitar but wouldn't
really call them selves a great player, then this guitar lesson
dvd is for you. The format, lesson plans, and instruction is
all geared towards beginners. Of course if you're an
intermediate player who wants to learn more about scales,
theory, and advanced techniques you can learn a lot to, how
ever you'll likely be skipping over the first couple of
dvds.

How does the course work?
The Learn and Master guitar version I have, also the one
this guitar lesson dvd review is about, is that 10 dvd version.
Although shortly after I got my 10 dvd version (check out what's on the dvds) the
new 20 dvd set became available. You can purchase either or
on their website and there is about a $50 difference.
The core part to this program is of course the dvds. There
are two lessons on each dvd (for a total of 20 view the lesson plan here). The
instructor, Steve Krenz, is a professional studio
musician, and performer around North America. So his
credentials are top notch to be teach a program like this.
The format for learning with Learn and Master guitar is like
this.
1.) Watch the next lesson in the program
2.) Refer to the lesson book that corresponds to that
lesson for time line to master the particular skills, and
additional practice material
3.) Practice along with the Jam-a-long cds if there is a
track that corresponds to that lesson. (check out the Jam-A-long cds)
The lesson book gives a suggestion for how it should take to
master the particular skills for a particular lesson. While
some lessons can be mastered in a day, as you advance it may
take a week or two to get the proper technique and skill down
to move forward.
Is it as good as taking Private Guitar Lessons?
It's tough for me to explain how good this product is
without you actually seeing it, but the quality of the video,
detail of the instruction and supplemental materials make this
guitar lesson dvd as good as any private lessons you could
take. To top it all off with your purchase comes a lifetime
membership to the Learn and Master guitar members only forum.
This is a place where you can ask questions to Steve, the
instructor, or other students if you get stuck or don't under
stand something.
If you're thinking about buying a guitar home study course,
or take private lessons, give Learn and Master
guitar a close look. It's less expensive then a years worth
of guitar lessons, and will teach you more.
