Learn to play at home with a Guitar Home Study Course
Learning to play guitar from home is a much more enjoyable experience then taking a private lesson each week. I found I progressed much faster once I started using video guitar lessons from home to learn, and stopped attending my weekly private lessons that were costing me $20 bucks a pop. This article is dedicated to helping you find the perfect Guitar home study course for you. More specifically we’re going to discuss what you need to have in a home study course, what you can expect to pay, and my recommendation on the course I used at home. After reading this article you should be able to make a decision on what guitar home study course you’d like to learn from and get started ASAP.
What to look for in a Guitar Home Study Course
When buying any guitar lesson dvd or video set you need to make sure it contains more then just a few dvds. While the video lessons do make up the meat of the program there is a lot more that you’ll need to master the guitar then just those lessons. Things to look for are supplemental practice material for scales, chords, and songs. As well as jam-a-long cds if possible, I’ve found that playing along with cds is more enjoyable then just playing on my own when practicing what I’ve learned.
Besides extra materials you want to ensure that the quality and organization of the actual guitar lessons is good as well. Each lesson should build on the one before it, and they should be in an organized fashion starting with beginner information working through to theory and reading music, then beginning to teach chords and scales. I know the beginner stuff isn’t that fun, but if you want the most benefit from your guitar home study course you should take the time to learn it right the first time. The course we’ll talk about at the end of this article includes all of these items, and is a great value when compared to the cost of private guitar lessons.
What can I expect to pay for a Home study course?
If you visit your local music store you’ll see some guitar dvds and books ranging from $10 probably well up to $100. My suggestion is to avoid those programs you see at the music store. Why? Because they specialize in one area of learning guitar, but don’t provide a complete lesson plan to take you from starting out to a proficient player. For a quality guitar home study course I’d be prepared to spend at least $100-$150. If you can find something you feel offers great value and a lot of lesson content for a lower price go for it.
Is there a Guitar Home Study Course You Suggest?
I’ve bought several books and dvd courses to learn guitar from home. Some to actually learn from, and others to compare to what I feel is the best product on the market so I would be able to suggest the course I’m about to mention with confidence. I haven’t found a more complete, and quality guitar home study course in the last year on the Internet, or in any music store. The program I’m talking about is Learn and Master guitar.
This program comes in a 10 or 20 dvd set, covering everything from how to hold the guitar through to playing scales and lead guitar. The video quality is excellent, and the supplemental materials are top notch. I suggest you check their website out for yourself, but assure you, you will not be wasting your money if you choose to purchase this program.
