Tips for Success with Acoustic Guitar Chords

When you’re first starting out be sure to use only the tips of your fingers to press down on the frets of your acoustic guitar. This is a mistake that many beginners make, they use the fleshy part of their finger to press down on the fret and they mute the strings above and below the one they’re playing.

Also pay close attention to where you keep your thumb on the guitar neck. It’s important to keep it square in behind the neck. This will also promote the use of you finger tips to form chord shapes.

Beyond Beginner Chords

Once you’ve mastered the G and D chords that are taught in the video above consider watching our full guitar chords for beginners lesson, also our bar chords lesson.

If you’re ready to get serious about learning the guitar you should check out the best beginner guitar course online, Nate’s Beginner Guitar System.
