Find the Best Online Blues Guitar Lessons

The blues, it’s a style that stands out above all others on the guitar. If you’re into blues music, and I bet you are since you’re looking for online blues guitar lessons, then you know exactly what I mean.

Learning the blues requires that you do have some of the basics down such as: basic open chords, some barre chords and while not essential an understanding of the pentatonic scale

So where can you find good online blues guitar lessons?

There are two great websites I use for blues guitar lessons. One is Guitar Tricks and the other is JamPlay. Both of these websites are membership based services where you pay a monthly fee and receive unlimited access to all of their guitar lesson content. Let’s take a closer look at each one.

Guitar Tricks Online Blues Lessons

Longer then any other site on the web Guitar Tricks has been providing guitar lesson videos for almost a decade. They have over 40 different guitar instructors on staff and more then 3000 guitar lessons in their catalog. Of those 3000 guitar lessons a good chunk of those are blues.

Guitar tricks has an entire area of their intermediate guitar lessons section dedicated to blues guitar lessons. There are electric and acoustic blues lessons, chicago style, shuffle, 12 bar blues and more. Each lesson video is filmed in high definition and there are several instructors that teach the blues lessons (guitar tricks also offer online rock guitar lessons, and even some free online guitar lessons).

Right now Guitar Tricks has a fantastic 14 day free trial promotion running. You can sign-up free of charge and start using their lesson content free for the first two weeks. If you choose to stick around after that it’s only $14.95 a month or you can cancel and not pay another cent.

JamPlay Blues Guitar Lessons Online

Like Guitar Tricks, JamPlay is an online membership website. You pay $19.95 a month for unlimited access to their thousands of lessons. They also employ over 40 different instructors and are adding new lesson content constantly.

The blues guitar lessons component of JamPlay is quite extensive. There are more then half a dozen different lessons series taught by different instructors of the JamPlay family. Topics covered include basic blues, 12 bar blues, acoustic slide blues, rag time blues and more.

The videos are each shot in high definition and many use a 4 way split screen that shows a close up on the teachers fretting hand and strumming hand. This way you get a good look at exactly what the instructor is demonstrating.

Personally I find myself using JamPlay more then I use Guitar Tricks. Both offer great lessons, but there is more variety to JamPlay’s online blues guitar lessons than Guitar Tricks.

While it is a couple of bucks more a month you get a ton of added features beyond just video lessons such as: Daily live webcam lessons, great scale demonstration library and a very active online forum and community of other students and the instructors.
