Learn to Play Acoustic Blues Guitar Even if You’re a Complete Beginner
So you want to learn acoustic blues guitar.
Good for you, it’s an exciting and soulful style of guitar that is endless with things you can learn and jam on.
If you’re a complete beginner then I’m going to suggest you get started either with a course like Learn and Master Blues Guitar or some beginner blues guitar videos.
Learning Blues on the acoustic guitar isn’t that much different then electric, but the feel and style of what you’ll play sometimes can be.
The acoustic guitar gives such a warm feel to playing the blues that we’re not always familiar with, especially if you following blues music. If you list 5 great blues guitarists few of them (if any) will play acoustic blues guitar.
Getting Started with the Blues
To get started with acoustic blues you must understand the very basics of the 12 bar blues. I’ve one a beginner video you can watch below that covers what the 12 bar blues is, how you can find it in any key and what chords you need to play.
Now that you have the very basics of acoustic blues guitar down let me tell you a little bit more about how I learned.
I don’t have a ton of time for private lessons so I’ve chosen to learn a lot of my techniques from an acoustic guitar lessons dvd. When it came to learning about the blues I chose Learn and Master Blues guitar.

I was right, the dvd lessons by Steve Krenz were easy to follow and the Jam Along songs and videos were great for practicing the skills I was learning.
