Taking Bass Guitar Lessons Online
Bass guitar is a beautiful instrument, but unfortunately the alternatives for taking bass guitar lessons online isn’t quite the same as electric guitar lessons online or online acoustic guitar lessons.
In fact there are only a couple of downloadable online bass guitar lesson products available, and the best self study course I’ve seen and used is actually a DVD set that you order online but use at home.
Bass Guitar Lessons Online
The two most prominent online bass lesson courses available are both by master bassist Alex Sampson. His courses “Fretboard Formula” and “Bass Guitar Secrets” do a good job of teaching you the basics, but they aren’t as easy to use as some other guitar lessons online programs.
Fretboard Formula does include over 9 hours of video footage. I prefer videos since they offer visual demonstration of each new topic and technique. While a lesson ebook can explain things well it isn’t always easy to understand without a visual demonstration.
The Bass Guitar Secrets course is more of an Ebook with a few lesson videos embedded. This is a half decent course to wet your appetite as a beginner bassist but doesn’t really have all the content you need to mater the Instrument.
Teach Me Bass Guitar
The best bass guitar lessons online are likely those done by Roy Vogt a professional performing bassist, instructor, composer and studio musician.
His course, Teach Me Bass Guitar, has been available for just over a year and has been receiving great reviews from beginner, intermediate and even professional level bass players.
The course comes with 10 DVDs loaded with lesson content starting you with the very basics of the bass guitar and working you up to a point where you could take the stage with any professional musicians in your area.
Of course this doesn’t happen over night, but if you put in the time and practice this course is like having a professional instructor at home with you 24 x 7.
There are a ton of great features to this course which I won’t all list here since they’re all available on the official website for Teach Me Bass Guitar. I suggest you check it out since there are also some free lesson samples taken directly from the course as well.
If you want to take online bass guitar lessons I feel this is the best course to go with. It is a bit more expensive then Fretboard Formula, but you get to keep the DVDs and watch them any where any time and also are given a lifetime membership to Thunder Row, Teach Me Bass Guitar’s private membership website where you can ask questions, get feedback and make friends with other students.
