The program is designed for all levels of guitar players (beginner through intermediate) and caters to both acoustic and electric guitar players.

What you Learn from Amazing Guitar Secrets

Dan takes you through 2 DVD’s worth of video lessons covering

Chords: across the entire neck (major, minor, barre, and open position). Although he doesn’t just stop at teaching you the chords he also gets into progressions and keys. This is something that many guitar lesson products don’t touch on. Progressions are basically how to create a progression of chords that fits together. This is a must if you intend on jamming with others, or writing any of your own songs.

Scales: Amazing Guitar Secrets teaches you scales in all positions on the neck. Along with the different keys. This works well with the progressions and chords, you will know what scales you should be playing for different chord progressions allowing you to easily create your own solos and hooks over top of different chords.

Dan also has a unique approach for learning any song you hear on the radio or your favorite CD’s. He has five techniques he teaches you in order to learn songs by ear and pick up the chords progressions easily. For anyone wanting to learn top 40 hits and sing along while playing this is one thing that other dvd guitar lessons don’t touch on.

How You Learn with Amazing Guitar Secrets

So knowing what Dan covers is great, but how does he teach it to you? Well there’s two main methods used in Amazing Guitar Secrets. The first is the (2) dvd’s included with the program. There is a ton of video lesson content for you to watch, and it progresses in a logical format. Each lesson builds on the next.

NOTE: I would suggest that you watch the video lessons on your home dvd player. The larger screen of your TV rather then a PC monitor will make watching and learning from the videos more enjoyable. Also, while a partial negative Dan does make a few mistakes which he quickly corrects through some of the video lessons. Of course nothing can be perfectly scripted, and he notes any errors he makes quickly and makes the correction. This doesn’t detract from the learning just small hiccups during production of the dvd’s.

To accompany the video lessons on dvd there is also a 400 page printed manual. This book is actually 10 different instruction books all binded into one easy to use book. This saves you from losing any of the lesson books included since they’re all combined into one manual.

The first part of the Lesson book is a progress tracker. This allows you to follow your progress as you take lessons, learn new skills and become a better guitar player. This is the first program I’ve seen offer a feature like this and I think it’s incredibly useful for those that use it.

For beginners there is enough content in this program to last you for well over a year just in the course book alone. To help you practice there are also some really high quality jam-a-long tracks. For those that might not be familiar with what I mean, a jam-a-long track gives you band tracks to play along with to practice your skills, it’s a really enjoyable way to learn.

My Verdict on Amazing Guitar Secrets

I give this a buy recommendation for beginner and intermediate guitar players, especially if you’re looking to learn to play electric guitar. A lot of the lesson content is geared towards learning scales and keys in all positions on the neck, a must for electric guitar players. This isn’t to say that there isn’t content there for an acoustic guitar player, Dan spends time teaching chords, progressions, strumming techniques etc.

A Big plus for Amazing Guitar Secrets is the price. It’s just under $100 for the basic package (see below for what’s included in the two different packages). It’s excellent value for the money.

He graduated with a Bachelor of music with a minor in classical Piano and Vocal Performance. He’s been playing in Bands in his home state since he was in the 8th grade.
